Advocacy Resources

The following are resources that may be helpful with issues we face. If you can recommend others, please contact us at miriam@widowconnection.com.

Social Security
I found myself utilizing online services related to disability and visiting the local office as well related to death benefits. This is an important resource for widows and dependent children.

Your States Attorney Office
In Illinois you can go to www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov. By clicking on consumer resources, you can file a complaint on line regarding a business or health care.

Annual Credit Report
Some widows do not know their individual credit scores. This impacts your costs of financing purchases ranging from cars to homes. You can order a copy of your report by calling the three main national credit reporting agencies: Equifax (800-685-1111) Experian (888-397-3742), or Trans Union (800-916-8800). Correcting errors requires patience and perseverance, however, this is important.
