Reinventing One’s Self
A person who wanted to ‘reinvent’ himself ask if he could meet with me. He thought I’d done that, and could mentor him through the process. Listening, it was obvious that some of his professional choices, perhaps personal as well, did not bring the results he wanted.
Yes, the life I live today, my passions, activities, calendar, and budget are quite different from 10 years ago. He thought my process could be outlined and transferred so that he could become a very different person.
Problem: I did not reinvent myself. Few do. Usually a transformational event, even that one you did not chose, enters and turns your world, your head, and your heart.
Transformation is not a given, even after financial upheaval, relationship turbulence, death or divorce. Giving that event to God brings transformation.
