Perspective
Pause. Take a deep breath. Count to ten before you speak. We’ve all heard these words of advice. Most of us have ignored them at times and regretted it. Perspective is a good thing. And we can’t have it immediately. Perspective requires time, or distance, or both.
Consider that the Civil War was a stage on which many heros strutted and struggled. But who do we remember? Abraham Lincoln. Time shrunk many generals and would be heros whose deeds paled near Lincoln’s conviction.
Like standing near Mount Everest, all mountains seem similar. But move further and Mount Everest stands above all.
So, my friend, on your crowded stage today, rather than struggle or strut, take a deep breath, less is often better than more. Time and distance bring perspective.
