Mary Knew 3
Christmas has us thinking, planning, making lists–trying to figure things out. What gift would be meaningful for that friend? Will this grouping of relatives work or be full of conflict?
Truth is, we don’t know. Even with givens we can count on, surprises are a constant in our lives, ready or not.
I read of Mary, Jesus’ mother, taking courage from her great strength. At Jesus’ birth time, she knew He would die early, murdered by the Romans at the request of her own people. She knew, but maybe did not fully comprehend that He would be the Savior of all future generations.
She did not know that by age 50 not only would she have seen her eldest son crucified, she would be a widow.
She trusted God’s loving hand through the knowns and unknowns.
