Learning from hard places # 8

“No matter how serious the crisis, there’s always something to praise God for.”  Do you think this statement was made by a person wearing rose colored glasses?  Not at all.  A mom and grandmother, wife, Bible study teacher and mentor stated this in her personal battle with pancreatic cancer, considered deadly and untreatable in most cases.  She lost her brother-in-law to the same disease less than 5 years ago.  His battle lasted 43 days.

Yet today, weeks after her diagnosis she is praising God daily for something:  a pound regained, feeling good, though tired, being able to shop with her daughter for a wedding gown.  Every day she shares God’s goodness to her in that day.

So what about you?  What about me?  If Mary can praise God for something in her crisis, surely we can.
