Bad beginnings happen in every person’s life. One cannot live on planet earth without some mishaps, some small and some large. Mary is battling pancreatic cancer and has declared that Good endings can come from bad beginnings.
How can she say that when she is starting chemotherapy and does not know the outcome? Because she is a person of faith who takes God at his word first. Every thing else must fit under that reality. Yes, Romans 8:28 should not be quoted glibly to someone in crisis. I’ve experienced that during my husband’s battle with ALS. That is not the comfort we need in that moment. But we do learn good lessons during things that started badly. One is that our faith deepens as we see God’s tenacious love for us as we struggle through each day.
