Law of Triviality

C  Northcote Parkinson, 60 years ago penned the phrase, the Law of Triviality.  He referenced that in business, folks often focus and fume over the trivial rather than the important, the quality of the coffee and the color of the walls rather than the budgetary constraints or financial targets.

We see Pharisees and Sadducees in Scripture focusing on the mundane rather than the great heart of God.  But not us, of course.

I listen to my friends and their perspectives on Christ followers.  Often they see the same.  Trivial matters can distract us from God’s priorities.  Loving Him first.  And then loving our neighbors.

Easier said than done.  We do not pick our neighbors.  Its easier to discuss church curriculum than reach out in meaningful ways to relate to them.

Loving God first puts the trivial in perspective.
