Inaugural Weekend 2

Enjoy your comfortable easy chair today.  I’ll be standing in the cold for hours for just one glimpse of my reason to be at the Inaugural Parade:  seeing my two grandsons in the Black Horse Troop.  Onlookers will think it a simple thing that 85 horses in block formation, straight lines, react to neither loud noises or distraction.  They’ve trained for months.  Each rider knows their horse placed strategically next to compatible horses.  Some prefer to bite their rivals.  After waiting hours the ride will speed past and be a moment in their memory.

The political winds will change and power will shift.  I can give thanks that our elections and those shifts are still peaceful though not always kind and civil.  I  give thanks that teens from our ‘commoner’ status family can  participate in an event so grand.
