Forgiveness 3
Forgiving is hard. Luke 6: 27, 28 tell us: “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”
This sounds extreme, and indeed it is. That’s why for some of us it is impossible in our humanness. Yes, we can forgive the small stuff on our own, but not the biggies.
Let’s talk about how we can do that impossible task of forgiveness in His strength, not our own. Jesus never asks us to do something he himself did not do. He was murdered. In his last breaths before death, He asked his Father to forgive those who were murdering him. Extreme.
We can because He did.
