Fast food

Fast food is the mark of a wealthy country.  Burgers in minutes, tacos in seconds, blended fruit drinks in an instant.  We’ve ‘arrived’ when a town has several options within a few miles.  I pondered this as I watched young teen girls pound corn in wooden bowls in Ouagadougou’s outer villages.  No ‘fast food’ ever reached these folks.

God is the inventor of the first ever fast food.  It was Mana–a healthy, complete in one product, daily delivered to every household.  In short Mana would be the dream of any fast food entrepreneur. And should have brought contentment to the children of Israel.  But they were human, like us, and wanted different, wanted more.

Proverbs 30:8 reminds us, ‘give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.’
