Beatitude # 6

We live in a highly distracted world.  A ping draws us to look at our phone, not listen to our family member or friend.  Visual images scroll rapidly drawing us to look at a screen, not a calming sunset or the gentle hypnosis of waves rolling on shore.  Distractions make us double minded.  We lose focus.

Jesus says in. Matthew 5: 8 ‘ Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.  To be pure in heart is to be single minded.

‘Philippians 3: 13, 14  Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,  I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.  Paul shows us how.
