Bad odds

What if you were signing a relationship contract that will likely be broken?  The sad news is that for second marriages, 67 % end in divorce.  I paid little attention to second marriages until I began to see my widowed and widower friends remarry.

Yes, some are delighting in each other, blending families--with a lump or bruise here and there--loving and serving God.

Others are struggling.  What makes the difference?First, the guidelines for that second marriage are the same as the first.  Believers are instructed to marry their match--another believer.

Second, are you ready to submit to each other?  Ephesians 5:21. First marriages are a change process.  Who you are is partly, who you are with.  Now that must change.

Those two guidelines are no guarantee.  But they’re a good beginning.
