Art Hogan

Veteran’s Day is a day of parades, remembering, and recognition.  Today is the second anniversary in our family without Art Hogan, my son-in-law’s father–a World War II veteran.  He departed this planet and he is missed.  As a veteran, he taught me much.  He wanted no recognition and never participated in a parade or any other recognition. Others might, and that was fine–but not him.

He would not talk specifics about the war.  But we knew he was in France and Germany.  From what little we knew, we understood why talking about it was just not going to happen.

Why share this?  Because you probably know a vet.  Whether WWII, Viet Nam, or the present war on terror including Iraq and Afghanistan.  And no matter their personal preferences, you can always say, “Thank You.”
