A different Thanksgiving
My Thanksgiving will, once again, be different. For families with predictable plans, enjoy. Mine seem to be ever changing.
This year my grandson will be riding his horse in the Chicago Thanksgiving parade. I’ll be somewhere on State street cheering and snapping as many pictures as possible.
But before that, we’ll deliver 12 breakfasts to him and his troop at 5:00 am in their staging area. After the parade ends, family and friends will thaw out at my home anticipating our typical feast. But the cook, me, will have been absent.
I’m looking forward to this. We’ll refocus on being thankful, not whether all our favorite dishes are on the table. We’ll remember that life brings unexpected opportunities and blessings beyond our predictable plans for this day. It will be a different, but good Thanksgiving.
